A Warm Welcome and Lifelong Friendships

“The best part of being a Canadian Tollycruiser is the friendships we’ve made.” — Paul & Debbie Jones

For Paul and Debbie Jones (Destiny, 1989 Tolly 34), joining the Canadian Tollycruisers was a no-brainer. After purchasing their 1980 Tollycraft 34 Sport Sedan from longtime members Jay and Vernessa Hartland, they were encouraged to join the club.

“They told us to start anchoring instead of going to marinas and to join the Canadian Tollycruisers,” they shared. Since then, the Joneses have found the club to be a source of lasting friendships and invaluable boating knowledge.

“The best part of being a Canadian Tollycruiser is the friendships we’ve made,” they said. “We always leave the Rendezvous with new places to visit and ideas for maintaining and upgrading our boat. Spending time with more experienced boaters has really improved our skills.”

“The club is full of nice people, and the burgee is bitchin’!” — Bob Cowell and Amy Hagen Cowell

Bob Cowell and Amy Hagen-Cowell (Hoku Ala, 1985 Tolly 48), echoed this sentiment, joining the club after meeting friendly Canadian Tollycruisers members at Roche Harbor.

Bob and Amy Cowell echoed this sentiment, joining the club after meeting friendly Canadian Tollycruisers members at Roche Harbor. “We wanted to get to know them better, and we’ve met so many more great people since,” they said. “The club is full of nice people, and the burgee is bitchin’!”

Fun, Learning, and Adventure

“We love the down-to-earth feeling of the club.” — Valter & Eva Pavoni

The annual Rendezvous at Telegraph Harbor is a highlight for many members. Paul and Debbie described it as a time to reconnect with friends and explore new destinations like Genoa Bay and Tod Inlet. Bob and Amy added, “Telegraph Harbor is a beautiful setting for the Rendezvous, with great amenities. It’s a fun-filled, laid-back experience with people who love their boats.”

The Rendezvous isn’t just about socializing—it’s also an opportunity to learn. Eva and Valter Pavoni (Channel Dancer, 1989 Tolly 34) appreciate the practical classes offered, such as knot-tying and safety workshops. “We love the down-to-earth feeling of the club,” they said. “We’d much rather help flip pancakes or burgers than go to restaurants.”

For Pete and Jayne Brennan (Stolen Moments, 1977 Tolly 30), the club has been a treasure trove of knowledge. “We joined to meet other Tolly owners and learn tips about owning a Tolly,” they explained. “The newsletters, email updates, and online roster have been great sources of information. We’ve even run into members on various docks and had some great visits.”

A Community That Celebrates Boating

“We enjoy the social gatherings and making trip plans with other members.” — John and Sandy Scambler

The Canadian Tollycruisers is more than just a boating club—it’s a celebration of the Tollycraft lifestyle. Bob and Amy highlighted the fun events at the Rendezvous, including the corn-shucking contest, Tooney Toss, costume contest, and pet parade. “We even have our own Elvis!” they joked.

John and Sandy Scambler (Lady J, 1990 Tolly 44) joined the club to meet like-minded people and have found it to be everything they hoped for and more. “We enjoy the social gatherings and making trip plans with other members,” they said. “It’s an added bonus to create new friendships and memories. We get excited when we see other Tollys at anchor and have no shame in pulling up in our dinghy to say hello!”
